Charleston Classical Guitar Policy, Purchase Terms, and Conditions

Private Lesson Policy:

  • In the event that you cannot make a scheduled lesson, you must notify us by e-mail (chad@charlestonclassicalguitar.org) or phone (843-580-4126) or through the student portal at least 48 hours in advance to reschedule with no cancellation fee. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice (or not showing up for a lesson) results in the loss of the full payment for the lesson.

  • Monthly invoices are sent out on the 1st of each month. This invoice is due within 7 days. After 10 days, a 10% late fee will be applied to the invoice.

  • If a lesson cannot take place due to a teacher’s absence you will be notified (by phone and/or e-mail) and credit will be issued for that lesson.

  • Students age 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult who can reinforce concepts and guided practice at home.

  • We strongly encourage adult supervision for students ages over 6 as well. Please see “Children Class Policy” for more information.

  • Makeup credits expire after 30 days.

Group Class Policy:

The following policy applies for students that have purchased a week group class from Charleston Classical Guitar:

  • A class start date may be pushed to start at a later date if there are not enough students enrolled to begin the class. We will do our best to notify by phone and/or email as soon as possible in a situation of this sort.

  • There is no refund once a class begins. If a student chooses to withdraw from a class once it has begun only school credit will be issued for the remaining classes. You must notify us 48 hours prior to the next scheduled session to withdraw from a class and avoid forfeiture of that session.

  • You must notify us by email (chad@charlestonclassicalguitar.org) or by phone (843-580-4126) to request to withdraw from class (this cannot be done through the student portal).

  • If a teacher must be absent, the class will either have a substitute teacher or that class will be postponed until the following week. In the event that a class is be postponed, students will be notified by phone and/or e-mail. You will NOT lose a class. The class will still have the 8 sessions. The class will be extended and end at a later date.

  • If a student is absent for a class we can email over missed materials upon the student's request. As an additional option, enrolled students may purchase a private lesson at our discounted package rate to make up for any missed class.

Gift Certificate Policy:

Gift certificates do not expire. Once a gift certificate is redeemed all other policies apply. You must request a refund within 14 days of the date of purchase to receive a full or partial refund as long as the gift certificate has not been used for a group class that has begun.

Children’s Policy:

It is highly recommended that a parent/caregiver is present during the lessons/classes to assist the child at home. In the beginning it can be difficult for the child to practice correctly and/or instill a practice discipline when not guided correctly. The person that will be practicing with the child should be present and either partake in the lesson and/or be told at the end of the lesson what the child is to practice and how they should practice. The child should pick up the guitar at least once a day and play what was taught for the week. It can be just a 10 minute practice session each day. It must be each day to instill and help the child to remember and be ready to go forward. If this cannot happen, it may not be the right time for the child to take lessons. It can actually be discouraging for a child when they do not have this practice routine because they will come back the following week and have to repeat the entire lesson or feel left behind. It's not much work on the parent/caregivers side. It's just having the child pick up the guitar and go through what s/he was taught in class once a day for 10 minutes or so. This must continue on until the child naturally picks up the guitar on his/her own without guidance.
